Dear Family and Friends,
We wanted to give you an Olsen Family update as to what we have been up to this summer and what the fall has in store for us.
Shane has been super busy with school as he works toward receiving his Masters degree. He travels to England for 4 days every 6 to 7 weeks. July was a whirlwind of traveling to England, speaking at the Assemblies of God Junior High camp for a week, speaking in Destin, FL for his brother Shaun’s camp and we can’t forget our own youth group’s camp in Winnsboro. Although busy we were extremely blessed to be a part of each and every camp. He also is playing softball on our church’s softball team.
Chase will turn 4 in October and has grown up so much the past several months. He has quite the personality and keeps us laughing constantly. Chase’s interests seem to change daily but as of lately it has been Bibleman, Gator-huntin’, Golf and Baseball.
Ally will turn 7 in October and I had to stop and think before typing that because I thought that just couldn’t be. Ally graduated Kindergarten from a small private Christian school in May. This summer we have been busy with a few different VBS’s and Dance camp.
I have been busy chasing these 3 around and taking them here and there. I laugh every time I think of the label “stay-at-home mom.” What is that?!!?!! We have had a wonderful summer with our dear friends that have a boat. They take us to the sandbar for food, fun and fellowship. The kids love the river and we are blessed to get to go.
I have learned many important lessons the last several months.
Obedience is the big one. Without going into a big long drawn out story, I read a blog that softened my heart and made me really think about this life we live. The next Sunday’s sermon spoke confirmation in my heart that God wanted me to Home school Ally. Now, those of you that know me know that I tend to lean towards being that type A personality. Type A personality mixed with being an only child means I like order and structure when doing something and if it doesn’t happen like that then, well, you don’t want to know the rest. ☺ I have actually spoken the words on several occasions; I could never or would never want to home school my own kids. (Insert God laughing) So, after praying, arguing, praying a lot, pretending I wasn’t listening, being stubborn, ect. I finally let go of Lisa and decided that what I was hearing was truly what God called me to do. He gave me all the peace and understanding I needed for now. I never thought I would be a home school momma but I am both excited and nervous for this new chapter in our lives. Our home school verse will be 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
One last thing, each week we will focus on 2 friends, church leaders, government leaders and/or family members to pray for each day. If you could send or email us a picture of yourself or a note and anything we can agree with you about in prayer.
Thank you for supporting us in this new journey. We covet your prayers and encouragement.
Be Blessed,
Lisa Olsen

Lisa I was so blessed by your post. You will be an amazing homeschool mom. Oh my goodness--your kids are so blessed. From the time we met ya'll we knew you were a special lady. It is so hard to beliee Aly is almost 7! It is hard for us to believe our grands are 11, 9, 7 and 5. We are adding one more to our family. Spencer asked Morgan to marry him last night. She is a wonderful, Godly lady--I completely trust her with my grandkids! I'm telling you Lisa there is truly no greater joy that your kids and grandkids. I just love it. It would be great to see ya'll. We love and think of ya'll often--Kay
